Alisha Butler is an education policy scholar whose research investigates the connections among schools, neighborhoods, and communities.

Her research draws on interdisciplinary perspectives to investigate the effects of gentrification on urban public schools.  Alisha’s research interests also include the geography of educational opportunity and the politics of parent engagement. Alisha’s personal interests include reading, running, and indoor cycling.

Alisha was a 2020 National Academy of Education/Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellow.  She earned a BA in political science from Yale University as well as an MA and PhD from the University of Maryland, College Park.
